We had an excellent weekend at the Sustainable Home and Garden Show in Kapiti. The weather was brilliant all weekend, so there was an awesome turnout on both days. Our tent was especially cool because we had living economies and not 1, not 2, but 3 Transition groups: TTKapiti, TT Otaki and the newly formed TT Waikanae. Actually probably 4 with Juanita from Lower Hutt. We gave out free energy saving lightbulbs, left over from Earth Hour and we’re coordinating with the council a light bulb distribution getting 2 lightbulbs into all households in Kapiti with the help of some community groups. We signed up lots of people for all 3 groups and spread the word for people from Porirua and Levin to try and start up groups of their own. Their seemed to be a lot more people interested because of the economic downturn so hopefully sowed the seeds for more people to join the movement and flourish ours and their ideas.
I so want a cargobike.
