“This Changes Everything” at Shoreline Cinema & Paramount Cinema.

Email From Brent Cherry

Hi everyone,

As part of my volunteer role for 350 Wellington I am on the organising committee for “The People’s Climate March – Wellington” – Saturday 28 November – 1.00pm at Civic Square – see attached flyer (below).

To both promote the March and fundraise for it we are organising a screening of “This Changes Everything” at the Shoreline Cinema, Waikanae on Monday 16 November at 8.00pm – see attached promotional flyer (below). Tickets can only be purchased at the link below and the People’s Climate March – Wellington receives 5% of the ticket sales:

I am hopeful that you will both purchase some tickets but maybe more importantly – help promote both the screening and the March via your networks, email lists etc.

We are also organising a screening at the Paramount Cinema, Wellington on Tuesday 17 November at 6.30pm – see link below.

More about the People’s Climate March and the surrounding events on Saturday 28 November.

I think inspired by Naomi Klein’s “This Changes Everything” multiple organisations including climate, environmental, action, health, church and unions are all working together (see the attached flyer) to organise the March. It is truly inspiring to be working with such a diverse range of groups and organisations all focused on climate change.

As Avi Lewis (director This Changes Everything) states “No one is going to come and save us. In fact, we know, the way change happens is people in movements change politicians.

Prior to the March there will be a pray/meditation/silent event 10 to 12noon at Civic Square, where people will be invited to sit and reflect on their love and prayers for the earth, and on the interdependence of all life on the planet.

To make it really “The People’s March” – we are looking at having people march in blocks to Parliament behind large banners – 350, nurses, parents, students, Gen Zero, unions, church and religous, children, grandparents, Kapiti communities, schools etc etc.

Once the rally at parliament ends there will be a multi denomination vigil/church service at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Cheers

Brent Cherry (volunteer 350 Wellington).
