Kapiti Cycling Evening meeting – Take a Ride on a Bike

Kapiti Cycling is holding an event on 27 May at 6.30pm in the Committee Room of the Community Centre, Paraparaumu.

We will be showing DVD’s about the Otago Rail Trail and the Little River Trail between Christchurch and Little River on Banks Peninsula. Fliers are now being printed and we will send the advert to you shortly so that you can pass this on to cycling and non-cycling friends who might like to attend.

Patrick Morgan, the Cycling Advocates Network (CAN) project manager will be there to tell you about his job and answer your questions about our national organization. There will be maps and materials about CAN and Kapiti Cycling to take away. Light refreshments will be available.

One of our committee members will be talking about local cycle routes that are now available throughout our district, so if you have children or know of young people who could be interested please encourage them to come along.

We would also like to remind you that the responses to the Long-Term Council Community Plan are due by 14th May. It is easy to fill in and register your interest and agreement (if you do agree of course!)

If you have lost the submission form that came with the local paper, Council has copies of it. Although this newspaper pull-out does not mention cycling and walking, the actual “Choosing Futures Community Plan” does. (p. 66 under Access and Transport). It is important to support this at a time when there is a move to encourage people to leave their cars at home, thereby helping the environment, our balance of payments and our health.

The “Choosing Futures Community Plan” can also be picked up at your local library or you can look at it here: http://www.kapiticoast.govt.nz/
Will be in touch again shortly with the flyer attachment, but just wanted to give you advance notice of the evening so you can put it in your diary.
